LIAR, LIAR – The Lies satan Wants Us to Believe!

Liar, Liar, Pants on fire!  The pants of this person are definitely on fire because he is the father of lies, and that is the devil himself.  And he is in overdrive.  There are certain things that satan wants us to believe that are true when the facts prove that they are just right down lies! There is one lie that I have heard over and over again. I have seen it on Facebook recently and it needs to be exposed!

The lie that needs to be exposed is: “God will never give you more than you can handle.” How many times have you heard or even said these famous words? I know I have a thousands times, but truth is, it’s a lie.  In fact, you will not find this anywhere in the Bible… and before you pick up a stone or two to throw at me through your monitor, let me explain. (besides you don’t want to throw it at your monitor anyways, it might break it)

When you hear that God will never give you more than you can handle, most people think they are quoting or paraphrasing  part of 1 Corinthians  10:13 which reads: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (NIV) Did you notice it? Notice what? Notice what this verse is talking about? (I don’t know how you would missed it, its in bold! ha)  It is talking about temptation not our problems, our burdens, our struggles, or our worries.  It is during these times the reality is quite the opposite!  God does allow us to go through things that we can’t handle on our own. Why? So we will run to Him! So we can depend on and be comforted by Abba Father. If we could handle things on our own, there would be no need for a Savior. No need for Jesus or the Holy Spirit whom is the promised comforter (John 14:16)!

Like I said before, the truth is, you will never find a verse in the Bible that says God will never give us more than we can handle. However, you will find all kinds of verses that say the opposite. Here are two verses: “Cast all your worries on Him for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 and then Jesus even says in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  And there are many more verses that back this up. Just look through the Psalm, you’ll see David crying out for God!

You see, satan wants to us to think we can handle things on our own so we don’t allow God’s grace and mercy to be poured out on us. When we think we can handle everything, satan has us right where he wants us! And that place is not in the presence of God! He doesn’t want us deepening our relationship with Christ by placing our faith in Jesus.

So next time the satan tries to pull a fast one on you with this lie, don’t believe it and call him a liar! Then run into the arms Christ Jesus, who is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6) . Cry out “Abba Father” and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to your needs!

I have fallen for this lie before, what about you?

Great job my friend. Amazing how many times I hear this quoted like it’s from the bible. I always thought it was. More people should understand this.

AMEN! I have heard this said so many times and it drives me insane everytime I hear it! That statement does not make me feel better about whatever situation I’m going through. I’m pretty sure if someone feels the need to say that to me then whatever difficult thing I’m going through I’m probably not handling at all and having a melt down! I would rather be encouraged to pray because running to my Savior is what will get me through difficult times, but so many times we turn away in those moments and need encouragement to go back.

So true, right?! Why do we run from God during those times? I don’t understand why we do that, but we do. If we would only stop for a sloppy second and realize that Abba Father, Daddy, wants us to run right into his arms!
