3 Powerful Word!
Words are powerful. More powerful than most people like to admit. Scripture teaches that the tongue has the power to bring life or death. (Proverbs 18:21) That one verse is ever true in my own life. Our words have the power to either build someone up or tear them down. However, our words have the power not only to change other people, but also to change our own lives.
24 years ago, I spoke, or should I say cried out three little word that changed my life. It is hard to believe that three words could change my life, but they did. Those three words would set into motion a life time of change for me. Those three words put me on a path that I would have never chosen on my own. They would free me yet at the same time they would bind me. Let me explain…
It was on this day, February 22, 1994, that got up from a where I was sitting walked down the middle aisle of Maumelle Assemble of God in Little Rock, AR and fell at the altar and cried out these three life changing words: “Lord, help me!” Kneeling in the front of that church, I humbled myself before King Jesus and said I can’t live my life the way I have been living it. I need you to clean up my life because I can’t do it on my own. It was in that single moment that Christ Jesus freed me by forgiving me of my sins. See I owed a debt that I could not pay at all and Paul tells us in the book of Romans, that the only way out is to “Call upon His name and the Lord will save you.” Praise God! He paid my debt with His life and freed me from the sin that had trapped me. Now not only did it free me, it also bound me. I know that sounds like a contradiction but it’s not. Now I am bound to Him! I became one of His! Now since He has paid my debt with His life, all Christ wants from me is to live for Him! (See Romans 12:1)
Ever since I cried out those three words, “Lord, help me!”, God has taken me on an adventure that I have not and will not ever regret. 24 years ago, my life was full of chaos/turmoil, confusion and without purpose, now I have peace, direction and a purpose. My life has changed in so many ways and I wouldn’t change that for anything! For the past 24-years Christ Jesus has given me a purpose and that is to serve Him and to try to show the world the same kind of love He has given me. Have I failed at times, yes! I have failed more times that I can count or admit. However, that doesn’t negate the fact that He still loves me and that I am still His child!
All of this was possible because I cried out three simple yet amazing words… “Lord, help me!” How about you? Are you in a place that it seems impossible to get out of? Does it seem like all you are doing is spinning your tires without any change? Are you live in a state of chaos, confusion and without purpose? If so, I would love to talk with you and share more on how God has changed my life and how He can change your life also. If you would like to send me a prayer request all you have to do is email me at firstname.lastname@example.org! I look forward to hearing from you!
